I have been working at Drop full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    > The people here are great. I mean really great. Smart, thoughtful, passionate group of folks who are really invested in each other and invested about the work we do. It's the first company I've worked at where people warm up to you quickly and are very welcoming, which has been nice.

    > The benefits for a startup are solid - unlimited PTO, lots of flexibility to work remotely or while traveling.

    > A lot of process driven people which I really appreciate.

    Cons

    > Lack of strong communication between upper management and rest of staff is par for the course for a company of this size, but I think senior leadership is genuinely trying to improve upon this.

    > I think we've had a lot of transition this year, and it's affected our identity as a company. What's the actual work that we do - what type of company are we, that kind of stuff. Clarity on our north star and vision moving forward would be helpful and boost morale.

    Application

I applied online. The process took 4 days. I interviewed at Drop in November 2014.

    Interview

I sent my application in and was contacted about a week later to set up an interview. My interview was the following week over Skype. The interview lasted about 20 minutes.

    Interview Questions

    • The interview lasted about 20 minutes. The questions were all based around buying so for example: If I was a Massdrop buyer, what products would I put on the site?

Nothing particularly unexpected, if you are going into a buying interview and you know your stuff you should do ok!

There was a buying test that I had to take after. You are only given 30 minutes to complete the test and there were three different sections: business math, communication and editing and creating copy. It was a bit confusing because there wasn't a timer on the test but my interviewer told me they could see how long I was working and not to work past 30 minutes. I just completed what I could in 30 minutes and informed him I did what I could but didn't get to two questions.   1 Answer
