OCSC have an immediate requirement for an Intermediate / Senior Structural Design Engineer with 2 – 3 years’ experience to join our Galway office. The position would suit a motivated, practical, and adaptable individual who has the ambition to work in a progressive and innovative design consultancy. The post holder will support the delivery of a range of projects across a wide range of sectors. OCSC is an approved CPD Employer by Engineers Ireland and an accredited ‘KeepWell’ Employer.

Arrangements can be made for hybrid and flexible working as necessary.

ROLE

The structural engineer shall ensure design works are completed as per the Client’s requirements.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

• BEng (Level 8) in Structural Engineering or equivalent.
• 2 – 3 years’ demonstrable post graduate experience in the design of structural projects.
• Ability to design structural engineering solutions based on guidance from Senior / Senior Associate Structural Engineers.
• Strong analytical knowledge and understanding of engineering principles.
• Some experience and understanding of undertaking steel and concrete design.
• Experience working on teams on structural projects.
• Ability to quickly develop successful relationships with architects and contractors.
• Has knowledge and experience working on commercial, schools, residential and education projects.

DESIRABLE SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Design experience in the UK / Irish Construction market
• A bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering.
• 2 – 3 years+ structural design experience in a consultancy working on building-related projects with a knowledge and experience of structural design in accordance with Euro codes.
• IT skills with the use of Structural Engineering design software such as AutoCAD, BIM, Revit, and Robot (or equivalent).
• Experience working in commercial, residential and education sectors.
