Be the one building AI-powered experiences where they matter most.
At Genesys, we help organizations create better customer experiences through AI-powered experience orchestration. Our platform connects people, systems, data and AI to help organizations deliver more personalized service, improve operational efficiency and build stronger customer relationships.
Help build, support and operate technology used by more than 8,000 organizations in over 100 countries – moving AI from possibility to production in real-world enterprise environments every day.
We are looking for a highly motivated Security Operations Intern with a passion for modern, cloud-based security operations and a desire to learn how to treat security as an engineering problem. Working directly alongside our IR lead and the broader team of engineers and analysts, you will help design, build, and maintain the automated decision engines and workflows that defend our cloud environments. This position is ideal for someone looking to bridge the gap between software scripting and Incident Response, utilizing modern AI development tools to accelerate and scale your impact.
Please note: This is a student position that is intended to align with and support the requirements of your work placement module. Our internship placements run full time from the middle of January, until the end of August 2027.
Location: For these positions, we are only able to consider candidates who are happy to work from our Galway office on a hybrid basis (2-3 days per week at a minimum).
Key Responsibilities
Automation Pipeline Engineering: Assist in building and optimizing automated incident response playbooks to orchestrate alert containment and remediation lifecycle actions.
Workflow Integration: Write and maintain basic python scripts, infrastructure-as-code, and webhooks to seamlessly link alerting pipelines like PagerDuty with cloud infrastructure.
AI-Augmented Development: Leverage generative AI coding assistants to efficiently write, debug, and document code, transforming existing automated processes into highly optimized, frictionless workflows.
Automated Tabletop & Posture Engineering: Help the engineering team design, build, and execute automated tabletop exercises and simulated attack campaigns to pressure-test the resilience of our production cloud environments.
Logic Tuning & Drift Prevention: Audit existing security automation logic to ensure cloud API updates or environmental changes don't cause silent code failures or tracking issues.
Qualifications & Skills
The Mindset: A strong desire to pursue a career in Cyber Security, specifically within Cloud Security Operations, Incident Response, or Detection Engineering.
Scripting Exposure: Basic experience or coursework in coding/scripting (Python, Bash, or similar languages) and a conceptual understanding of APIs.
Tech Adaptability: Familiarity with or interest in using AI tools to assist in writing code and solving technical problems.
Cloud Awareness: Foundational familiarity with or interest in cloud infrastructure platforms (specifically AWS ecosystem concepts like IAM, EC2, CloudTrail).
Problem Solvers Only: An analytical mindset capable of breaking down a multi-step security issue into a logical flow.
What You’ll Learn
How to operate an automated framework inside a specialized commercial security operations pod.
How to use AI securely and effectively to augment and accelerate software development tasks in a production environment.
How to build automated defences that protect production cloud scale, moving away from old-school, manual practices.
The Hiring Process:
