I applied through university. I interviewed at ottonova (Munich, Bavaria) in Jan 2026
Interview
I got a trial task to perform a UI test for one of their production subpages and an API test using a mock API. In my opinion, I executed the task following the conventions, yet it was rejected. I spent 4 days on the task and did not receive a detailed explanation of what the actual issue was. For reference, two weeks prior, I had another interview where I was invited for an oral review to explain my solutions. It’s not possible to draw reliable conclusions from such short tasks without a personal discussion.

Interview
I invested a full month to thoroughly test their application and document specific issues. However, the entire recruitment process lacks transparency, and they do not provide any proper, constructive feedback. Spending a month on a take-home task only to receive a generic rejection feels like a complete waste of time. Furthermore, during the lengthy interview, the attitude of some of the interviewers was highly unprofessional. When a communication issue occurred, the meeting was abruptly and disrespectfully ended instead of simply clarifying the question. I honestly don't know how individuals with such an unprofessional approach continue to work in this kind of company. I would not recommend investing your time in their lengthy processes.

Question 1
Technical questions regarding testing practices, CI/CD processes, and automation tools, followed by a very poorly managed final stage.
