Interview
As with any large company, the interview process was long and intensive. I started with a screening call and then had to take a test. The test was fine. I’m not sure a test like that actually gives insight into my skills but I took it nonetheless. After I passed the screening and test, I moved on to meeting with the hiring manager and others. I did a total of seven interviews at varying levels - from the CMO to a new product marketing manager.
Everyone seemed excited about the recent acquisition and opportunities they brought for the product marketing team. The questions were standard if you’ve worked in product marketing before and I enjoyed learning more about the company and their opportunities.
During my last interview the hiring manager informed me that he was likely going with the another candidate but had a different product marketing role he’d like me to take instead. He’d need to get approval for the additional headcount so it wasn’t a done deal but he felt fairly confident it would pan out. The role seemed like the perfect fit for my skills so I was excited to move forward in the process although I also understood there was a chance the approval might not happen.
The only problem? I was totally ghosted! I waited three days after they said they would get back to me and no response. I waited four more days and still no response.
It would have been absolutely fine to say I wasn’t a good fit for either role, after all that’s what interviews are for, but to be 100% ghosted felt wrong especially after getting me excited for a new opportunity. Also, iCIMS works in the HR industry and they should know better than anyone that ghosting is not a great trait in an employer.
In the end, I realized that if that’s how they treat candidates they probably don’t treat their employees any better.

Interview
Spoke with HR representative who provided background of the company and job overview. She also asked a series of qualification questions and permitted time for me to ask about the company and its goals. For an initial 45 min. phone screen, there was not much time to go deeply into either the job scope or my background, but it appeared they made the decision to go forward or not just on that.
