I had one of the most unprofessional interview experiences of my career with this company. I was scheduled for a Zoom interview and waited 25 minutes in the meeting room with no communication from the recruiter or anyone else.
Only after I reached out did I learn that the role had actually been closed before the interview, but no one had informed me. I had prepared extensively and organized my day around this discussion, so discovering the cancellation only after waiting was extremely disappointing.
Mistakes happen, but failing to notify a candidate that a position is no longer available â and allowing them to wait in a live interview slot â reflects a serious lack of respect for candidatesâ time and a clear breakdown in internal process.
The recruiter later apologized and blamed a âsystem error,â but this kind of oversight should not occur in any professional hiring process.
Advice to the company:
Improve candidate communication, implement basic process checks, and ensure interview schedules reflect real-time role status. The candidate experience matters â and this one was unacceptable.
