I was contacted for a phone interview, and after the phone interview I was invited in for a 2-hour skills test which featured the use of Autodesk Inventor.
The HR employee for the phone interview did not know what CAD software the engineering group used, and made it seem like they might have used 2D AutoCAD the most. This was not the case as the 2-hour in-detail skills test involved Autodesk Inventor only. I made it quite clear on my resume that my most widely-used software packages were PTC CREO and SolidWorks.
They also seemed to struggle with the in-person skills test appointment, as the phone system/intercom system was not working properly, and they did not know who I was upon arrival.
The rejection email after the in-person test, although prompt, never made it to my inbox or spam folder which means that most email hosts have deemed it an automated spam response from their ATS system.
Overall a very souring experience which made me view Yamato Corp. USA in a negative light, especially after seeing multiple other engineer positions of the same name posted a week later. It is clear this Grafton location is a very remote branch of the core Yamato corporation that is only there for tax or USA presence use, not actual function or engineering. That or they are looking for 100% perfect fit employees to save them from whatever pickle they are in.
