      Sales/Business Development Interview

      27 Apr 2023
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Xerotech in Feb 2023

      Interview

Interview 1 - I had a 30 minute on line interview scheduled with two people. Only one showed up. How can an interview be fair on many levels with only one interviewer? It should have been rescheduled. I asked Xerotech HR for information about the interview days before this interview so I could prepare properly, ie, was it going to be more about the person, technical knowledge, past experience etc. No reply from HR. HR seemed to be inexperienced, little knowledge of jobs etc. I went into the interview blind. Interviewer seemed nice and to be fair I don't think I interviewed well on my end but what would have helped was feedback/more details from HR pre interview. I didn't get called back for the 2nd interview. All their interviews are on line by all accounts. Not ideal for hiring someone in business development as in person personality and communication plays a vital role in this type of job. I emailed for post interview feedback from Xerotech HR. Got no response. Not surprising. Thereafter I applied for two other similar positions and got no response. Note, I do have a lot of knowledge regarding EV batteries and the EV landscape in general and I don't think Xerotech are selling many batteries. I'm hesitate to believe all their hype. They do seem to have an excellent marketing department which might mean they are masking a lot. I do know the founder and I'm not surprised with the not so flattering, superiority complex, zero people skills feedback about him here on Glassdoor. Not sure he/the leadership team want many employees capable of positively challenging them. People probably have a better chance of employment within Xerotech if they come across as a Yes man/women. Most likely not the best for the company in the long run but might be better for someone to just get a job.
