Completely rude and unprofessional. Sketchy company.
The HR director is an extremely rude woman and acted in such an unprofessional manner during our interview. I've never been on such a ridiculous interview in my life. I can barely wrap my mind around what happened.
I applied for an HR Assistant position and was called in for an interview. The requirements listed were 1 year of HR experience, and the posting also noted that internship experience would be a plus. I had exactly that: 1 year of HR experience and an HR internship for 3 months. In addition to that, I was in the process of obtaining my master's degree in HR Management.
I always research every company before my interview, and after extensive searching online I was a bit wary of interviewing here. There were absolutely NO reviews on this company on Glassdoor or any other website. I couldn't find any of their employees on LinkedIn either. Very odd.
Upon entering the office I was greeted by a very sweet girl named Maddie. She was the current HR Assistant who was leaving and whoever filled this role would take her place. She led me to the HR director's office and wished me luck.. She seemed very nervous and timid around the director, which I didn't think too much about.
Upon first sitting with the HR Director we quickly went over introductions. After telling her about myself she pulled my resume off of her desk, scoffed, and said, "Wow you really don't have much HR experience do you?" I basically sunk into my chair.. Why would you call me in for an interview then? I was very taken back by this, and referred to the job posting which stated they required 1 year of HR experience and internships were a plus. She then reviewed the bullet points listed under my previous HR position and said "Ugh, well I thought these meant something else. Well, why should I hire you then?"
After explaining to her my HR experience in further detail and highlighting my studies in HR Management, she continued to make very rude comments about me being young and inexperienced. She kept shaking her head and saying how she didn't think "this was going to work, but we really need someone". After explaining to her that I was wiling to train for the position and I was looking for a company to grow with, she then had the audacity to ask me, "Well, after you get your master's degree how do I know you're not going to just run off and leave us?"
I was treated with complete disrespect the entire time, almost as if I were a child (at the time of the interview I was 24 years old). Upon leaving the interview, Maddie saw me out of the office. She apologized to me and said that the HR director could be a bit temperamental at times and was difficult to deal with. I left the office in complete disbelief.
The job posting was taken down the next day and then I saw it again a few days later. They had altered the description this time to fit someone with a lot more HR experience. Even if I was not qualified, I was treated in an absolutely unprofessional manner.
Please note: *This is not an interview from a scorned candidate who did not get the job, this is an honest and accurate review of the events that occurred from an HR professional*
