I recently interviewed for the Presales Consultant role at Wise, and the experience was very disappointing. The APAC commercial team showed a lack of understanding of key presales concepts, including the role's value proposition, presales strategy, and the specific responsibilities of the position. They asked about deal discovery experiences and maintaining health check-ins with prospects - tasks that are typically handled by Sales Development Representatives - so be prepared to ask for additional compensation if you’re expected to take on those duties.
Throughout the process, the team had unrealistic expectations and came off as condescending, with no clear idea of what good/success in the role should look like (especially the hiring manager, whose overall tone suggested a low level of trust in the candidates they were interviewing). The lack of clarity and direction made it clear that they do not have a well-thought-out strategy for their presales function and commercial strategy for Wise Platform in APAC.
If you’re considering applying, be prepared to ask tough questions about the actual responsibilities of the role. This interview experience fell far below expectations for a company like Wise.
