The was two preliminary screening calls with an external search firm. The search firm asked several questions to try to find out my age -- what year was your first job, what year did you graduate, didn't you have other jobs? What year? It was obvious and awkward.
I have a senior role at a company larger than Whirlpool, and it's clear from my resume I am likely over 40. The job wasn't a good fit, so I wasn't interested, so it was not a problem. But, these types of questions are against federal law regarding discrimination, and hopefully this was an error by the search firm and not discrimination by Whirlpool.
