The biggest kicker in all of this is their emphasis in a collaborative process review of the interview process but by the time I got to my car, they had already sent a rejection email. Wegmans definitely does their due diligence with evaluating external management candidates, which made me feel good that they hold their brand and their people in such high esteem. This lasted 90 minutes and the questions went much more in depth with leadership scenarios, my own leadership style, and qualitative traits such as how we deal with stressful situations or ambiguity. After this, I was invited back to meet with the store manager for a 3rd interview. This was a little more relaxed and those questions seemed more to get to know me as a person and to further evaluate if I’d fit in with the store and with Wegmans culture.
