I had a screening call with HR and then was asked to complete a written assignment. The written assignment had a 24 hour time limit and was very extensive, too extensive to be completed by a full-time employee in 8 hours and certainly too much for a candidate to do in their off hours. Still, I worked hard to complete these tasks and submit them on time. The next day, I received feedback that my "level of written English was not up to their expectations" and therefore wouldn't be moving forward in the hiring process. English is my mother tongue. Giving candidates such an extensive assignment to complete with such a restrictive deadline and then refusing to meet with them to even discuss it is disrespectful to candidates time and effort.
