      Associate Meteorologist Interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Weather Works

      Interview

Although hearing back from WeatherWorks after my initial application took around a month, things moved quickly after that. When I first heard back, they had me fill out a Pre-Interview questionnaire, which included some general questions about myself, my goals, my forecast process, and so on. After completing and sending that in, I had an interview scheduled and completed within a week. The interview process itself was one long interview (~ 3 hours) which consisted of meeting with the CEO (Frank Lombardo) for some questions. After that, you complete a region-specific forecast in one hour and then meet with Sean Rowland (VP of Operations). Finally, you meet with Rob Reale (Director of Met. Services) for lots of meteorological questions. A few days before my interview, I was told a general region that the region-specific forecast would be in. The day of the interview was when the exact location was given. Bit of a time crunch only having one hour, but it's possible. Although the interview was quite long, it was nice to get everything done in one day. The questioning was challenging at times, but overall I felt that the process was fair, with no huge curveballs in regards to meteorological knowledge needed.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Meeting With Frank - Generic / Situational questions you might expect from an interview. Meeting With Sean - Questions about your forecast process and reasoning. Meeting With Rob - Lots of meteorological questioning. Know how to decode METARS. Some situational questions. Interpreting radar, cold air damming, etc.
