      Marketing Interview

      5 Jun 2012
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at Walgreens in Nov 2011

      Interview

The interview process itself was very standard, but how the management decided to handle the outcome was very unprofessional. I received the initial email from HR and had the first phone interview with him, which lasted about 20 mins. We then set up a second phone interview with the marketing manager, which lasted about 30 mins. The questions were pretty standard, asking me about my background and skills. The marketing manager then emailed me a marketing "test" consisting of various marketing and research scenarios, and how I would go about handling them. I completed the test and was scheduled for in-person interviews, meeting with various members of the department and company. The meetings went well and questions were very standard. After not hearing back regarding the outcome, I sent a follow-up email to the marketing manager, who then sent me another "test" regarding how I would strategically acquire and work with a client. The questions were very specific and targeted, and I had a feeling it might have been one of their real clients. I completed the test and the marketing manager told me they would be looking at next steps after the new year. I waited for the outcome and after hearing nothing, I followed up with them after the new year. I emailed and called both HR and the marketing manager, but there was no response. I believe that given the extensive process they put me through, they at least owed the courtesy of returning my calls with the outcome of their decision, even if they decided to hire someone else. Also, given the nature and extent of these "tests," I have a feeling they may have used my responses to cut corners on their own work. Overall, it was a very poor experience and very unprofessional. Be wary if they try to make you complete any of these "tests."

      Difficult interview

      Application

      I interviewed at Walgreens

      Interview

Very strange interview process. Was initially contacted by an AI bot to set up a phone screening. Time slots was taken and the AI bot was supposed to round back with additionally times. The AI bot did not round back for another week until I raised an issue to the team. I was then phone screened in 10 minutes by what seemed like an outsourced customer service center. It was purely source gathering and did not allow me to ask any questions about the role.

      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Walgreens (Chicago, IL) in Sept 2022

      Interview

Terrible, terrible recruitment process. Multiple rounds of interviews, with no updates on candidacy. Phone screenings that repeat the same information from applications. Recruiters who schedule round after round of interviews with no feedback. Not sure what magic unicorn Walgreens is trying to get out of this ridiculous waste of not only their candidates time but also their own hiring managers and staff. Never ever applying for a role with this horrible organization again.

      Question 1

Repeated the same questions in the phone interview that had already been answered in the application. Any competent and efficient recruitment program would see the information in their system for the interviews that had already been completed.

      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 6+ months. I interviewed at Walgreens (Chicago, IL) in Nov 2021

      Interview

Walgreens interviewing and recruitment process is a total joke and a scam. They call, email, and text you to schedule round after round of interviews. They have interviewed me at least 20 times in the last year only to close the job, say the job posting was canceled, erroneously posted, etc. I could go on and on. One of my friends has had the same experience with this company and its terrible recruitment process. Not sure what they are looking for in a candidate for one, and they really need to look at their processes because there is clearly a breakdown. The latest - a recruiter contacted me to interview me for a role, then the role mysteriously disappeared. A week later she contacted me for another role, only to say the role was closed a day later. The next week she contacted me to interview me for two different roles, only to say the roles were erroneously posted with the wrong job title. All of these interviews, they just regurgitate what's in the job posting and ask yes/no questions based on the requirements of the job. WTF? Get your act together and stop wasting people's time!
