The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Waitrose (Buxton, East Midlands, England) in Feb 2018
Interview
2 hour long application with different rounds of customer service questions. You must pass a round to move onto the next. Common sense questions but you may find it difficult if you haven’t worked in a highly customer service based job before.
Group interview - we were given different things to read (mine was a customer review with ratings from poor to good) and as a team you must discuss what the customers have said and choose 3 key areas that need to be worked on and make an action plan e.g customer service, team communication...
You have about 5 minutes to do this so make sure you speak up because the interviewer can only mark you on what you contribute. Make sure to come across as a team player (put your point across but make sure to listen and discuss what others think/say)
1 on 1 interview is 3 questions and then just personal things like how much notice you need to give & any holidays you need etc
I advise to go through the questions on here and prepare answers to questions before hand so you don’t get caught off guard and have questions prepared to ask at the end of your interview because they love that!
easy ask basic stuff and got the job on the interview
the lady asks about yout availability and you can choose from a range of stores in and around your area which is good
I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Waitrose (London, England) in May 2026
Interview
I applied for a Supermarket Assistant vacancy for all SW London stores (If your applying for a London specific vacancy, please ensure you apply ASAP, they only keep the vacancies for London open for 24 hours max), an early application, is always the best application) I am very happy that I have been given an offer! This was honestly one of the best interview/application processes I've been through, everything went smoothly, and on a timely manner. I applied for the role a week ago, and the next day received an email to say I have been invited for an Interview. You then schedule yourself in for an Interview. Literally 2 days after the Interview, I was called and told I have passed the Interview, and they would offer me a vacancy. My best advice would be to research Waitrose' core values and behaviours, and also research company trends. I have put the questions below. Towards the end of the interview, they'll confirm your right to work, your availability, and your preferred locations.

1 on 1 interview with the manager. Was told I was invited to the interview by email 2 weeks prior. Roughly 6 questions asked. Questions are on the Waitrose website.
