I applied online. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Waitrose (Thatcham, England) in Dec 2016
Interview
The initial online application is tricky but you can do it as many times as you want - it's hit and miss because you don't know what answers they're looking for just use common sense and remember Waitrose has v pretentious customers.
There's two online questionnaires but after that you're invited in for 'interview'
By this it's literally a group of you (we had 6) and you each get a pack of sheets and each sheet has a different customers requirements on and as a group you have to match the customer to the product that would suit them most
Eg one customer was sporty and pescatarian so we paired her with the grilled salmon option

I interviewed at Waitrose (Malvern, England)
Interview
A group interview with others - straightforward questions shared with the group. A one to one interview after this with the section manager - this was also very informal. I was offered the job and accepted.
Good combination of online testing and in person situational questions in store. Testing beforehand had a range of questions including scaled responses and videos. In store questions were more team building

Situational questions - including how you’d respond to customer enquiries
I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Waitrose
Interview
Group interview followed by 1:1 interview and right to work checks. As a group we had to respond to a list of scenarios and say what we would do in given situations.
