      Wastewater Technician Interview

      17 Apr 2026
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Questa, NM
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at WSP (Questa, NM) in Apr 2026

      Interview

I was called in the middle of my working shift a day prior to the interview and scheduled for an early morning panel interview the next day. Only one person showed up and immediately opted to reschedule. The other panelists didn’t know they had an interview. The Individual I spoke to went on to attempt to dissuade me from the role. They asked what my degree was in, prompting me to believe my application hadn’t been reviewed beforehand, though that’s speculation. They mentioned low pay, grueling work, inability to provide relocation stipends, and mentioned it was located in an undesirable area and emphasized they hire locally. When I attempted to relay my credentials and experience, highlighting my desire to fulfill my capstone internship to finish my Bachelor’s, I was told this job was a “stepping stone to me,” which prompted me to reach out to the coordinating manager to clarify this job is very much in alignment with my degree path. Additional comments regarding the role focused on the lack of transferability and application to my chosen field, which was not the case seeing as the role would have provided direct experience relevant to my degree path. When I offered to provide additional documentation including transcripts and cover letters I was told this “isn’t that job.” The interviewer kept their camera off the entire time, as well. I waited thirteen hours for a reply on rescheduling before rescinding my candidacy. While I’m sure the company as a whole is more organized, my experience was far from desirable.
