I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at W. L. Gore & Associates (San Francisco, CA) in Oct 2011
Interview
Started with an introduction with the HR generalist and the Engineering Manager. First question was, tell us what do you know about W.L Gore ? Mentioned the values of gore available on wikipedia and stated that I value those things and therefore intrested to work at gore. Next the manager asks, walk me through your resume. He picked up a graduation project and asked me to explain it in detail. Design of Experiment was some thing he was intrested in. I think answered the question to his satisfaction. Next they started random questioning focusing on people and tech skills. Team work or Individual work ? New product introduction or do you enjoy sustaining work ? What are your strengths ? What are the things you want to improve on in your next Job ? This all happened in 20 minutes.
Next, They gave me a chance to ask questions.
1) Its a new position and you are not replacing any one.
2) Its and endovascular product in predevelopemental stage.
3) Team comprises of 7 to 8 tech engineers, extended team consists of 10 engineers, We are Refining design and can use help with feasibility testing, setting up the instrom, sampling plans for IQA and testing.
4) We are in early phase and have not hit a major road block, but I am sure there are going to be discoveries in the process.
5) Flexibility and the help you get from the people is the best about W.L.Gore.
Nirlep : on a closing note, I thank you both for your time. is there any thing that I can offer which I may have missed. The HR Gen mentions that we will get back to your recruiter by wednesday and will go from there.
Conclusion :
1. Its a team based organization, Culture fit is the key to get on board.
2. Very fast paced interview, did not got enough chance to tell every thing I knew about Gore and Gore products.Just for the records here are the things I researched about gore.
Over all a neutral experience. Can say what will happen Next.
