      Backend Software Engineer Interview

      8 Aug 2016
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Victorious, Inc.

      Interview

      1) Phone screen on basic CS knowledge 2) Phone screen + coding questions on Google docs 3) 2-hour onsite interview with whiteboard coding The experience was neutral until the onsite interview, which was conducted unprofessionally. The first interviewer started checking his e-mail in the middle of the whiteboard coding interview and was confrontational when answering questions about company culture. The second interview was with two software engineers who seemed uninterested and unfamiliar with coding with static typing. Was supposed to have a final interview with the CTO, but was told by the recruiter that he was "busy with a meeting". Never received a follow up from the recruiter about the outcome. Not surprised to hear that many software engineers who had worked at places like Google and Amazon have left the company since then.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

CS questions about dependency injection, suffix trees, distributed systems, garbage collection, string manipulation, and 2D arrays.
