I applied online. The process took 6 days. I interviewed at Verizon (Greenville, SC) in Feb 2010
Interview
I applied for the postion at their Web site. Several weeks later I received an email from an HR rep from the local call center sharing more details about the position and asking if I was still interested. I said yes and then I was told that someone from the corporate HR team would be contacting me. About two weeks later an HR rep called to schedule a phone screening the next week. The phone screening consisted of very basic interview questions, such as why do you want to work for this company? Tell me about your last job? What are your career goals? At the end of the phone screening the representative explained that the next step in the process was to go to the local call center and take an assessment. This was scheduled for the next morning. About 30 minutes before the assessment was to begin, I got a call from the phone screener saying that we needed to reschedule due to technical difficulties. It was rescheduled for the next afternoon.
The assesment was a computer based test, that included 7 sections. The first was 50 statements that you had to score your level of agreement with on a 5 point scale. Some of the statements were "Making lots of money is important to me", "I enjoy competing for financial gain", "I often envy other people for their posessions", "It is important to me to have enough money for luxury items", "The way I look is important to me".
The second section was a scenario excercise that inolved some data entry excercises, and selecting the best customer service response to a given situation.
The third was a test in logic, where I was given a set of parameters that had to be referred to answer some arbitrary questions about fishing.
The fourth was another 50 statements very similar to the first set of 50 statements.
The fifth was a typing test. You had type what you read and type what you hear.
The last was an excercise in multi tasking. You have to assign phone calls to the proper deparment while deciding whether two numbers are matching or not matching.
At the end I was told that I did not "score" high enough.
I have a bachelor's degree in Economics and many years of customer service experience. Making lots of money is not important to me, I do not enjoy competing for financial gain, I rarely envy other people, I don't really need luxury, the way I look is just okay to me.

Question 1
How would you handle an angry or disgruntled customer?
Lengthy and the paperwork is extremely confusing to fill out and submit. Thank you. But other than that really nice people. They hire through a 3rd party called Rose International…. Very helpful people
Unprofessional interview, and unfair. Being bilingual and many years of customer service experience they decided to pass due to many years of experience. The interviewer also looked unorganized and was bias.
