      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Vendini (Petaluma, CA) in Sept 2015

      Interview

The process took around 2 weeks and went through a recruiter, whom I am not positive is an employee, but was very nice on the phone. He reached out to me, I believe, based on my LinkedIn profile. Researching the company, I was immediately alarmed by the number of, and consistency of, reviews from other engineers, which I raised with him and the gentleman I interviewed with subsequently. Both of them assured me that changes had taken place, the concerns raised were in the process of being addressed and that direction had changed. The in-person interview took place with 2 members of management and involved whiteboarding and discussion. I was left with the impression that they were hiring for maintaining and growing the systems that they were supposed to be changing and that there was little time for investment in overhauling the systems that other reviewers complained of and that that may not have been as high of a priority as I felt had been expressed earlier. Not hearing back from anyone after the process was over was especially frustrating. Overall, I didn't get much of an idea of how the company intended to grow business-wise or in the technology that would support it and I didn't get the idea that engineers were well supported. Your mileage may vary. I found the other reviews here to be consistent with what I experienced.

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Vendini (San Francisco, CA)

      Interview

The process started with the usual phone screen and was followed up with a remote technical screening. We then had two days of in-person interviewing and time with the team.

      Question 1

There is a lightbulb inside a closet. The door is closed, and you cannot see if the light is on or off through the door. However, you know the light is off to start. Outside of the closet, there are three light switches. One of the door light switches controls the lightbulb in the closet. You can flip the switches however you want, but once you open the door, you can no longer touch the switches.
