I was selected for an initial phone interview for the above position at Vanguard. First, the interviewer sent me an email less than 30 minutes prior to the scheduled interview time requesting that we reschedule. I accommodated and we rescheduled for the following Monday. The interviewer was then over 10 minutes late to the interview. The interview went well, I thought, with the interviewer actually suggesting I raised my desired pay range based on the position and my resume. At the end of the interview, I was told not what potential next steps would be, but rather that I absolutely would be moving on to the second round and to look for a calendar invite in the next day or two. We even discussed my schedule. There were no responses to my thank you email nor to my follow-up email. Over a week goes by and I get an automated email saying that they hired someone else. To be patently clear to anyone at Vanguard reading this, I do not mind not being hired. You get 1000 rejections during this process; I am used to that. But from beginning to end this process was highly unprofessional, I have never had any interview experience like this before and I cannot say it inspires confidence in me to pursue a career here in the future.
