I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at United Nations in Aug 2010
Interview
Initial communications was very clear, with prompt answers to any doubts I had regarding the interview. There were some documents that I needed to bring in to the interview, and that was also noted in the very first communications, so no scrambling for last minute documents at the end. I had a panel interview, with questions being both the normal stuff like examples of working with a team, times you had problems and how you got around it, etc, etc, and also taking out your individual experiences, and asking for clarifications. You definitely need to research the department and organization that the position is for, because they'll ask you quite detailed questions about what you know about them.
