      Train Crewman Interview

      25 Oct 2014
      Anonymous employee
      Rosemount, MN
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Union Pacific (Rosemount, MN) in Sept 2014

      Interview

The interview process was basic but it was very safety oriented and your past work experiences are important. Especially experience working outdoors in all weather conditions and shift work. A Railroad Conductor Technology Certificate is very helpful to land that interview. The process to get hired is a long one.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Interview questions were basic interview questions such as "tell me of a time when you had a conflict with your employer and how did you respond." There was nothing unexpected.

      Train Crewman Interview

      2 Jan 2015
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Union Pacific in Dec 2014

      Interview

Applied online. Was notified to take a reading comprehension test online, and when it was completed it, received immediate notification I had passed. About two weeks later, was invited to a Hiring Session. Arrived 45 minutes early, and wasn't the first one, and the girl from HR was already setting up. There were 18 guys there. Most, like me, wore a dress shirt and pants, and a tie. Lots of information about the company, then the job. The Hiring Manager came and talked more about the job, unusual schedule, odd hours, etc. Everyone was then given a chance to go out and contact spouse, significant other, etc., regarding whether to go on with the process. Interviews were scheduled which let you know how long your had before yours. Mine lasted about 15 minutes and most of the questions were already mentioned on this website. Safety is the BIG thing!! Hence the question, "Who is responsible for safety?"

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

How do you deal with a disagreement with a co-worker.

      Train Crewman Interview

      24 Oct 2014
      Anonymous employee
      Chicago, IL
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Union Pacific (Chicago, IL) in Oct 2014

      Interview

There were a lot of applicants and the interview process was all day long. There are no tests and you have to solely rely on your personal interview and resume to get the job. If you are not safety minded and display that in your interview you will NOT get hired.
