      Senior Software Engineer Interview

      19 Jan 2021
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Udacity

      Interview

Did 5 rounds of technical interviews a month ago but I haven't heard back. Sent an email to HR but haven't received a reply. Very disappointing that after spending so much time doing technical interviews they just ignore you. No email saying if accepted or rejected. They just ignore you.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

      Basic algorithm questions. Like stack/queue.

      Anonymous interview candidate
      Chicago, IL
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Udacity (Chicago, IL) in Sept 2025

      Interview

The interview consisted of third party recruiter contacting me on LinkedIn. Then, an interview was setup with the director of engineering. His questions consisted of a list of "how many years of experience do you have" questions, which could have been answered from reading my resume.

      Senior Software Engineer Interview

      15 Aug 2025
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Washington, IN
      Declined offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Udacity (Washington, IN) in Aug 2025

      Interview

I actually had two rounds with Udacity interviewing for two different jobs. The first round for the first job seemed great. Had great conversations with the interviewer. He was excited, I was excited. Seemed cool. Waited for the tech round to come....and...crickets. So obviously they moved forward with another candidate. It was just a bummer to not get any feedback at all. So I applied again for another role, which seemed to be a good fit again, but a different more platform based role. Cool. Now the interviewer this time was obviously not a native English speaker, and his thick accent made it really difficult at times to get an idea of what he was saying. Not great for mispronounced technical terms I needed to get a bead on. No sweat, rolled with it and did my best. Then, I find out towards the end of the hour, that they liked me, yet they wanted to drag me through like four more rounds of interviews.... * Tech interview 1 - 1 hour * Tech interview 2 - 1 hour * Architecture - 1 hour * Meeting w/ CTO for whatever - 1 hour Cool man, so I'm like maybe 6+ hours into this process, w/o any solid guarantee that the next round is going to happen? Nope, this isn't a MAANG company, the salary averages here on GD are just not there to justify this expenditure of time. That, and they wanted me to sign an NDA on the interview process most likely to protect against reviews like this? Who knows, anywho, I backed out. Udacity please, if you're gonna drag Engineers through this silly gauntlet, be upfront about the process and the NDA in your job listing. That way candidates can decide if it's worth the time. For me, given the GD reviews and average salary posted, it wasn't. I'm not burning my PTO to court you, nor am I interested in companies that bog down their processes w/ so many unnecessary steps. Take that for what it's worth. A lot of us have plenty of code to review on GitHub, maybe give that a look? Could expedite the process.
