First is a hiring manager interview. It’s casual and straightforward. It starts with a disclaimer that tries to scare you off: “you’ll be the only designer” and “you have to work fast and remote”. Plus some standard questions like “Are you authorized to work in the US?” If you agree to all of that, you move on to describing your past experiences and why you want to work there.
You might feel a bit rushed during the first interview because he keeps repeating how many interviews he has before and after you. But overall, he is nice and respectful.
If you pass this round, you will hear back in about a week to submit your portfolio. You will be given very detailed instructions. They claim not to care about polish of the presentation and give many options for submission type. You can just send them your actual portfolio website link if you feel confident with it.
It’s asynchronous so you won’t present to them. They’ll review within a week and then let you know if you passed or were rejected.
After that, there are more interviews and they want you to do an unpaid project for them. If you pass all of that, you can have an interview with the founder and then offer.

They will describe two values of the company and ask you to pick one, and relate it to yourself or past experiences.
Straightforward interview process. Multiple rounds of interviews, met with the ED and a member of the Development team. Asked for communications/writing samples. Responses from the team were timely, professional, and warm.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at UPchieve in Apr 2022
Interview
The three interviews were great and gave me clarity on the role, a sense of the culture and team members. A project was required and they provided great resources to complete it.
