I applied online. The process took 8 weeks. I interviewed at UNDP in Sept 2019
Interview
Two staged process: 3 hour exam with 4 technical questions about the role, followed by a competency-based interview three weeks later for those who pass the exam. Very standard for international development organizations, with the huge difference that UNDP does not provide ANY FEEDBACK to shortlisted candidates who are not selected for the job, but nonetheless worked hard and demonstrated to be a good fit for the role. It is likely that internal candidates are pre-selected for the position and this is a practice sometimes used by international development organizations, but at least others do not treat shortlisted candidates as mere numbers.
A disappointing experience, particularly as this is a UN agency that strives for openness and transparency in the countries it operates but does not put these principles in practice
internally.

Question 1
Standard Technical Questions to show examples of how background and experience fit the role. One behavioral question.
I applied online. The process took 5 months. I interviewed at UNDP (Seoul) in Apr 2023
Interview
At the beginning of the process, things were well organized and quite reasonable. Technical tests and interviews were scheduled in advance and I could plan my time around it. After the interview, HR reached out with a request for references, providing 2 days deadline for completion. After this, the HR went quiet for over a month. I didn't get a rejection letter until I followed up, and the response was generic despite the amount of time spent on my side, it felt disrespectful of applicants. It is unlikely that I will apply for any positions in UNDP again.

I applied online. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at UNDP (Ciudad de Mexico) in Sept 2020
Interview
I was called for an interview after being informed I had passed to the final stage of the recruiting process. The only previous step I took before was submitting my application, so it felt pretty direct.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
I was asked 5 different questions, one by each member of the panel that interviewed me. The questions were related to some specific aspects of the job, but overall focused on my previous experience. One of the questions (and the final one) in particular was to describe one of my work experiences in which my role would have been valuable and couldn't have been done by anyone else.
