      Engineer Interview

      28 Jul 2017
      Anonymous employee
      Long Beach, CA
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through university. I interviewed at Traylor Bros. (Long Beach, CA) in Oct 2016

      Interview

Had a phone interview first, spoke to a great guy from their Indiana office. Asked some basic questions about my back round and to talk about my resume. Very laid back and informative. Asked a bunch of questions about the company and I received honest answers. Traylor Bros then flew me out to their Long Beach office. Had 5 interviews, even got to interview with Michael Traylor. Great experience. They have a system for their interviews, including questions putting you in different positions to see how you would react. Very laid back, great people in the company. Felt very comfortable around everyone. Even got to stretch with the whole office in the morning.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

One interviewer called out my resume for having a spelling error to see how I would react. My resume has "busses" and he said it should be "bus" he knew both were correct but he wanted to see how I responded to that.

      Application

I applied through university. I interviewed at Traylor Bros.

      Interview

It was good. They asked me some basic stuff about and passion for heavy civil and underground industry. The next interview focused on understanding the location preference, projects available, etc. Communication is the key in such interview. Get your story straight and be clear about what you expect from your career.
