I applied in-person. I interviewed at Trader Joe's (Williamsburg, VA) in Apr 2012
Interview
I submitted a resume/ application after walking in off the street. I had an initial interview on the spot with a member of management. The whole atmosphere of the store is so laid back, I didn't even realize that it was an interview until I thought back on it later; I thought I was just having a friendly conversation with one of the staff. Later, the Captain called me to set up a one on one interview.
Overall the whole process was very relaxed; we interviewed outside because it was a nice day. I felt overdressed for wearing business casual since the Captain was in his usual uniform of jeans and a Hawaiian shirt. It was about what you would expect of Trader Joe's.
The interview process was absolutely wonderful! I didn't feel stressed or nervous and it felt like I was just chatting with a friend! Trader Joes is a great company and the interview was great.
Very chill, asked things a lot of job interviews don't, more personal down to earth questions. Made me feel very comfortable. Professional but also cool vibes from everyone who interviewed me. Went to one interview with mates and another with the captain.
I had 3 separate interviews. 1 was over the phone. 2 were in person. I never heard anything after the third interview. I called the store about a week later and they let me know they didn’t actually have any available positions. Really felt like they wasted my time.
