      Software Engineer Interview

      30 Jul 2015
      Anonymous employee
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

      I interviewed at TokBox

      Interview

Fairly typical process. First step was a phone screen with a recruiter. It went well. Second step, around a week later, was an hour video screen with an engineer and a manager. Some trivia questions about languages and protocols. Also went well. Final step the next week was an onsite with lots of people including 2 engineers. Overall, a good experience. I accepted their offer!

      Software Engineer Interview

      26 Sept 2014
      Anonymous interview candidate
      San Francisco, CA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at TokBox (San Francisco, CA) in Aug 2014

      Interview

I first received an email from a "senior" recruiter and she seemed very pleasant. After setting up an initial phone screen, the job sounded great and the recruiter came off as very interested in my background. She quickly scheduled me for a follow-up phone call with one of the engineering managers at a specific time the following week. Turns out, someone else called me the following week, as the person she had scheduled me to speak with was out of town on vacation. Despite the mix-up and the very late call on behalf of the guy I did speak with, the conversation went well and the person to with whom I spoke was very interested in pursuing next steps. I followed up with a thank you email shortly thereafter. A week went by and no response. within the following two weeks I emailed once more. The week thereafter, yet again I emailed a gentle reminder that I was particularly interested in the job. Still, no response. It's no big deal that the recruited made a mistake , I'm pretty flexible and understand mistakes happen, but after never having received EVEN ONE short email response from the recruiter, I have absolutely no respect for this company. This is a really childish and unprofessional way of conducting interviews and was truly a waste of my time. I may have not been a good fit, but they could have had the decency to respond, especially after the late phone call with the wrong person. Would NOT work here even if they did call back! Companies should remember that everyone is a potential customer if they aren't on your team, and I will be sure to give negative feedback to anyone who asks me about their platform or services.
