I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Three Ships (Raleigh, NC) in Mar 2021
Interview
I had three interviews, one with a recruiter, then two different managers. Recruiter was great, second interview went well, third interview was excruciating. I don't think she had interviewed many people, and her inexperience showed. I don't know if she was bored by me or just bored, but she kept looking out her window.
The company ghosted me after the interview -- didn't respond to my emails, not even a courtesy "we've moved on."
I'm mid-career, and I think this place skews young, so I'm not heartbroken. But based on my interview experience, I definitely will not recommend this company to anyone.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Three Ships in Jan 2024
Interview
I was contacted on LinkedIn by a member of the hiring team to set up a 30 minute phone interview which I did. The interview went good and was asked to complete an assignment which I was able to do in the timeframe they asked. I made it through to the next interview with the managing editor. During the interview I was maybe asked 2 questions about my previous editing experience or anything on the position. I was mostly asked to rate my current manager and how they would rate me. It was all focus on my thoughts on my current manager and our relationship.
I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Three Ships in Nov 2021
Interview
Like several others, I had a four-part interview process. On my first call, I was given a salary range, during which I said I at least needed the highest end, if not more, because of my location. I was told it was workable. I took an editing assessment, then had three follow-up interviews with different teams and some follow-up questions from one of the interviews. I wasn't told about the length of this process in advance, but I was excited for the opportunity. After the final interview, despite what I mentioned in the initial conversation, I was told the job had a salary at the very lowest end of the range I was originally given. I said I needed at least a certain amount, and I was told I'd get benefits information right away and would be contacted again to follow up. Like some others who responded here, I was also ghosted. It’s unfortunate that so much time was spent on an editing test and interviews when the salary expectation I mentioned early on wasn’t a possibility.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Three Ships (Levittown, PA) in May 2021
Interview
The interview process was thorough and was four interviews in total. For the Editor position, there was an initial interview with a recruiter, the 2nd interview was with a manager, the 3rd interview was with an editor on a sister team (of the 2nd interviewer), and then the 4th interview was with an executive team member. If you're applying for the Editor position, you will also be tasked with completing an editorial assessment between the 1st/2nd or 3rd/4th interview. My assessment was completed between the 3rd and 4th interviews. Having such an extensive interview process helps the company truly find those who will be a good fit for the work and culture.
