      No offer

      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at ThousandEyes (Austin, TX) in Sept 2018

      Interview

The interview process is what one would expect to experience from any tech company: Resume Review, Phone Screen, Take home assignment, and 6-8 hour onsite interview. I was initially contacted by the management team to do a Phone Screen. During the Phone Screen, I was impressed with the way the interviewer helped me to understand the process. I stumbled on the questions asked here. However, the interviewer gave me an additional assignment to complete which involved understanding how traceroute works at the lowest level. At the end of the Phone Screen, I was given topics to review and invited to set up a free trial with the ThousandEyes Product. After a few days, I was informed by the company that I was moving forward in the interview process. This is where the interview process became challenging. I received a take-home assignment which involved several different troubleshooting, networking, communication, and process-thinking based questions. I would be remiss if I did not mention the level of difficulty of these questions. They are clearly designed to be challenging and make one think. I was not disappointed. You have one week to complete this assignment, but additional time will be given if you request it. It took me 6 days to get through these questions as I had to do quite a bit of research. I believe this is by design. About a week later, I was notified that the company was moving forward in the interview process. The next step was to go to an onsite interview. I interviewed with three other Customer Success Engineers, the Director, and had a panel interview. The three Customer Success Engineers asked me technical questions relating to how the internet works, Linux sysadmin, and general customer interactions. The Director asked me "cultural fit" questions. Then came the panel interview/challenge. You are given one hour to prep for the challenge. In this hour, knowledge of the ThousandEyes product is key, which is why one is invited to set up a free trial so early in the interview process. I highly recommend one does so. After this hour, you are in a conference room with four or so Customer Success Engineers. I cannot stress enough how attention to detail and well-thought-out statements are important to this portion of the interview. At the end of the day of interviews, I was mentally exhausted. I felt challenged and motivated. A few days later, I was notified that the company wished to extend an offer, which I accepted.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at ThousandEyes (Austin, TX) in Aug 2019

      Interview

Applied through LinkedIn. I was contacted by a new recruiter who was very new in recruiting. 1st round was very friendly and one of the best interviews of my life. They weren't looking at what you got but how much you are ready to learn. Almost learnt many basic things like DNS, HTTP, Traceroute working during the interview. 2nd was home assignment very very tough at the beginning but the most informative thing in an overall interview. I took 2+ weeks worked day and night to complete it but with honesty which helped me in the onsite round. Last onsite with 4 rounds. Interviews were good but dint like the management at all. I cleared Onsite and gave referrals for background check-in. My referrals were never contacted and even I received a reject after one month. I wasn't given any reimbursement money. Management was too poor as my recruiter was new in recruiting.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

DNS, HTTP, DHCP, Wireshark, Firewall types, Traceroutes(ICMP, UDP, TCP), SSH, SSL Certificate Issues. Mainly focus on home assignment.

      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at ThousandEyes (Sydney) in Mar 2019

      Interview

After initial phone screen directly with the hiring manager there was a homework assignment, followed by a number of 1:1 interviews focused either on technical, or general discussion with management focused on culture fit. Finally there was a technical challenge interview with a panel which revolved around live troubleshooting a specific scenario. I found the interview process tough but fair, everyone was very transparent in responding to any questions I had about the role and there was good communication around next steps and expectations through the process. Interested candidates would do well to take a genuine interest in the company and product and trialing the platform prior to interview to get a good overview of it's capability and be able to link in with previous experience and current skills.

      Question 1

General questions on various topics including: TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP, VOIP and Linux administration.

ThousandEyes have a very comprehensive interview process. It starts with a phone screen comprising of a variety of technical questions , next step is the homework set to challenge your knowledge and check ones learning ability. lastly the on-site with a grilling challenge in the end..this gives a very good idea of how solving complex problems feel like and gauges ones abilities of troubleshooting and technical concepts leading to selection of best candidate. It is the best team I have been a part of yet, everyone makes you feel welcome have a positive outlook and ready to lend a helping hand. All in all a very thorough and comprehensive process.
