This was a short informational interview conducted over Zoom. I received a request to interview about a month and a half after submitting the application and the title/job duties had changed from when I submitted the initial application.
The interviewer was easygoing and asked open-ended questions to learn more about my background. The interviewer also requested a sample of a previous communications campaign.
The interview again occurred about 6 weeks ago, and I have not heard back. It is unclear whether the position has been filled or if the school is struggling with all the understandable difficulties surrounding COVID. Either way I find the lack of communication undesirable--particularly from a communications team.
I also found it troubling that there was no discussion of salary range in the post or during the interview, particularly for a school for young women. It is known that women are underpaid and that salary transparency is one way to help close the pay gap. You would think that a school creating the next generation of women leaders would model behavior to encourage women's success and equitable pay when they enter the workforce.
