I applied online. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at The RealReal (Secaucus, NJ) in Oct 2020
Interview
Very easy and short. Written test with a few basic questions about luxury fashion brands, a few verbal questions about workplace experience. Got a call back the next day with an offer.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at The RealReal (Brisbane, CA) in Feb 2019
Interview
Once I arrived at The RealReal "corporate office" (warehouse), I met with the Senior Copywriter and the Manager. The interview itself was about 15 mins long and the entire process took about 1 hour. The interview was mainly focused on how capable I would be at meeting daily and weekly quotas. After the interview, they walked me through the warehouse space. They started with the cafeteria, moved into the stock rooms, and finally into the copywriters space. The last part of the interview was an assessment that included a brand identification portion and a practice copy writing portion. My initial thoughts on the experience was how the job title didn't exactly match the job description. Typically, a copy writer role includes a lot of creativity, however, TRR has a "copy formula" that they use throughout the company that doesn't require any creativity at all. The reason they explain for this is to keep the copy consistent throughout the site. This position is definitely for someone who has zero financial responsibilities since the pay is quite low. It seems like an okay job if you're young and trying to break into the fashion industry.
