I applied online, and a few days later I was sent a text asking me to schedule a time to interview. I really liked how it was set up online and was easy to schedule, reschedule, or cancel. I interviewed a few days later. On my email, it said I would be meeting with the regional director but when I got there, I was told I would be meeting with the director. This happens a lot in the childcare field but it's still annoying to me. Also, as I walked in, I could see a former co-worker speaking to the person at the front desk. She saw me out of the corner of her eye and then left. I was very close with this person for 4 years, so if she knew I was coming in, I'm sure she probably was gossiping about me. The director asked me a lot about curriculum and I could tell she didn't like my answers. She was very quiet and didn't show much of a personality in my opinion.
I also learned more about the job, and that it was pretty close to the job I currently had. And I didn't want that. I also asked about tuition since I have kids and even with their discount, I would have to work two full weeks to afford one month of tuition. Even if I wanted the job, I could not afford it. And this is coming from someone who is more educated than most in this field so I typically make more. It sounds like it's not very employee friendly just from that. Like, why would you want to make it harder for your employees n to bring their kids there?
I asked for a tour of what could be my kids' future room and she did just that... very quickly. Didn't show me any other part of the school. To me it felt like she wasn't interested in me. Not surprisingly, I received a rejection email less than a week later. It said they still will keep my info on file in case something changes but I kinda want to tell them not to bother bc I can't afford it (w/ 4 year old twins).
