I answered an ad placed on Craigslist. I called first and asked for a direct email address to send my resume and cover letter and just happen to get the person whose position is being advertised - she is leaving at the end of December. We chatted briefly and had a positive convo regarding my skills and experience. Sent resume in and was called two days later for an interview for the following Monday late in the afternoon. Actual interview was crammed into 90 min with three people - very rushed.
Interview with the first person - the individual I spoke with on the phone - was very typical. Took place in a hallway outside their office next to a water fountain that was very noisy with a broken pipe - hard to hear. However, the second interview was with one of the owners and also the head developer (company is owned by a pair of brothers - I think) in a shared office. He was very vague and did not ask many questions on what his expectations of the position was. The third person I interviewed with was the other brother/owner, he was the company CEO. He proceeded to tell me how unorganized his brother was. He pointed out what he perceived as discrepancies in my resume, but did so pretty unprofessionally. He also was all over the map with expectations. The position advertised was part-time, but the person being replaced worked full time. When I asked why the position was going part-time, he couldn't give me a clear answer. Couldn't pinpoint job details - what he was looking for. Also seemed like he was looking for someone to babysit his unorganized brother. Said that he knew the person who had the job now since she was 15. Said if there were problems with the job, I could call his wife, because she used to do it. His interviewing skills were less than professional, especially for a CEO.
I sent an email that evening thanking the first interviewer and letting her know I was withdrawing my name from the pool of applicants.
