      Interview

Applied online and after a week or so was able to shedule an interview. I interviewed with the owner. He was very friendly and straightforward about the company and expectations. The pay was broken down as far as base pay, plus credit card tips, plus cash tips. Ultimately declined because no benefits were offered.

      Interview

Emailed resume and cover letter, a few days later got a reply asking to come for an interview at their Lower East Side location. Met with the manager who took me to a bench outside to conduct the interview. Didn't hear anything back for a bit, so followed up again and was told they didn't have a position to offer me at this time.

      Interview

You submit a resume on the website, they call you to come in, you do, boss man gives you a piece of paper and a complimentary beverage. You fill the paper out - maybe he gives you a dried up pen (ominous), maybe you've brought your own favorite pen from home with the comfortable grip and glossy ink that writes like cashmere. You hand the paper back to him. He sits across from you, reads it and comments on things. It asks you a few questions: blah, blah, blah your weaknesses, strengths, experience, how you handle situations, why you want to work here, what hours and days you could work, and finally "what do I need to know about you?" which, wait. That's a weird one. Need to know in order for what? In order for you to know if I'm a good worker, a good person, who I really am? Have I ever killed a human or animal for reasons other than nourishment? Do I have uncontrollable narcolepsy or sweaty pits to the point of endangering those around me? Am I the kind of person who buys flowers for strangers on the street, who flosses, who looks good in hats? What does anybody NEED to know about anybody?... Oh wait. He admits he's not totally listening to your answers anyway because everyone says the same sort of stuff like "Im a fast learner" or whatever and it's all about how you actually do during training. The question that always catches me off guard is do YOU have any questions so I guess I'd suggest thinking of those. I think he's more gaging your character, energy level, how you talk to people. He tells you this is the best job you'll ever have, which, don't listen to him. It gets better kids. Aaand if he likes you or he's super desperate because a bunch of people just quit without warning as is common you start training that week.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Why do you want to work here? What's your work experience? Would you do morning or night shifts? How do you act under stress? Do YOU have any questions? Are you planning on going on any trips? Are you willing to get a food handler's license? Do I need to know anything else about you?
