I applied through other source. I interviewed at Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (Waco, TX) in Jun 2025
Interview
Got this interview from the Transitions Hiring Program for recent grads. In-person interview. About an hour total. Three interviewers asking basic interview questions (what makes you qualified for this job, why do you want to work for the TCEQ, a time when you disagreed with a coworker and how you moved forward, etc). Then one written answer question at the end. They leave the room and give you some time to write. Interviewers were nice, professional, and had a great dynamic.

Question 1
Presented with a situation you may encounter in the job, and what you would do in response. Something along the lines of: You inspect a site that you determine to have fallen short of meeting environmental and safety standards. The facility owner lets you know that if he/she were to fix the problems, they would have to shut the facility down. How do you respond to this situation?
I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (Corpus Christi, TX) in Aug 2024
Interview
Spoke with one HR person and three other interviewers. HR went over benefits, hybrid job setup, team structure, etc., followed by an interview portion with the other three. They asked 7 interview questions and had one written report summary.

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (Harlingen, TX) in Mar 2024
Interview
When I got there I was greeted by the person at the door and they asked me to fill in a sign-in form. After that I was greeted by one of my two interviewers and she proceeded to walk me to the room the interview was going to be taking place at. When I introduced my self again once they were both in the room I extended my hand for a hand shake and they both seemed hesitant to grab my hand, which made me feel kind of weird. We proceeded with the interview. Some of the questions they asked me were "tell me about a time when you had to work with a difficult coworker or team member", "tell me about a time when you had to give a presentation", "tell me about a time when you had to explain a difficult concept to someone who was less knowledgeable than you", "What do you think are the key aspects of customer service?", "tell me about a time when you made a mistake". After the interview was done they told me they would take about 3-4 weeks to give back the results. They told me that if I did not receive a call that meant I wasn't selected. I found it a bit odd that they would not send a rejection email or give you a call with the update. Overall the vibe of the interview was a bit tense, I tried to ease the conversation as I always try to make interviews more conversational so I am less nervous but the interviewer seemed very rigid. The questions were ok tho, not hard at all.
