I had 6 total interviews and back-and-forth communications for a Product Manager role. The interview process took 7 weeks, and cumulatively about 20+ hours between interviews and interview prep.
1-Pre Screen with Hiring Manager
2-Interview with Hiring Manager
3-Interview with HR
4-Interview with Product Managers and rest of Team
5-Interview Presentation for Product Managers
6-Interview with Engineers
The Interview Presentation requires that you choose a web or mobile app and create a future focused product brief with two features. The features needed to be backed up with research, data, use cases, and high level business requirements.
I enjoyed connecting with the different team members. There are obviously really talented people here.
But, these are a few things that impacted my interview experience:
-Drawn out interview process became mentally exhausting and I answered many of the same questions each round.
-Follow up emails didn't indicate timeline, not much feedback throughout the process.
-Day of Interview Presentation my presentation was unexpectedly cut short from 45 min to 20 min. I had spent hours on it, and had made around 20 slides :(
-2 to 3 hours max was expected for presentation prep, but more time is required to realistically meet all requirements
During the 7 weeks of interviewing I took personal time off of work, used lunch breaks, accommodated a last minute interview during work hours, and rescheduled a vacation. The 7 weeks of interviewing and project would have felt justified if the salary were more competitive and stock options or other compensation were available. Additionally, I was under the impression that I was consistently the top candidate throughout the hiring process, and after 6 interviews. I would have really appreciated the transparency with there being other competitive candidates, giving me the option to bow out of the interview process sooner.
