TP Lead Desktop Engineer interview questions

Lead Desktop Engineers are always promoted from within the company at the advice of other "LDE's" and recommendation from peers of the person being considered. There is no interview process. When interviewing for Desktop Engineer it is very basic and each Engineer is told it's entry level work; I try to ask advanced questions when I interviewed but ultimately the Desktop Manager made the decision for all of my hires.
