I recently interviewed for the Recruiter role at TLDR.
After an initial video chat with the recruiter, the conversation went longer than scheduled, and I left the call feeling genuinely excited about the opportunity. During the conversation, the recruiter mentioned I would be moving forward to a second interview and should also keep an eye out for an assignment and writing prompt later that week. I followed up after the call to express my enthusiasm and looked forward to next steps.
I did not hear anything for a while, and although I never received an invitation for the second interview, I eventually received the assignment. I put a lot of time and thought into the project, which asked for a recruitment strategy, sourcing examples, and more. I was proud of the final product I submitted.
A few days later, I received a brief email letting me know they would be moving in a different direction. Unfortunately, the email was incomplete and had typos, which left the communication feeling a little impersonal. I reached out to ask if they could share feedback on where I might have missed the mark, but did not receive a response.
As someone who also works in recruiting and believes strongly in delivering a positive candidate experience, I had hoped for a bit more communication throughout the process, especially after the initial excitement. That said, I am still grateful for the opportunity and learn more about the company.
