      Lead Engineer Interview

      29 Oct 2020
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Stitch Fix in Oct 2020

      Interview

I filled out an application, but did not hear anything back initially. A month later, I got a terse email about signing a NDA, followed by a few emails about the role and about scheduling an initial phone call. I scheduled the initial phone call for the following week. On the day of the interview, I got an email from the recruiting team an hour before the interview that the role had been filled and my interview was canceled.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Stitch Fix in Feb 2018

      Interview

I went through a full interview process - interview with hiring manager, take home interview (took about eight hours to complete), two hour pairing session on take home interview, and then an in person all day interview which required travel. The interview process took about two months and in between take home interview and two hour pairing session I had to write to recruiter multiple times to get an understanding of when I would hear back for potential next steps (though a little hard when dealing with other interviews I understand how it goes so wasn't a huge red flag). The take home interview was fun and I thought the two hour pairing session went well. I really liked the person I paired with and the collaboration and feedback were great. When I flew into the office for the final interview the office was a bit disorganized. I was told to ask for a specific person to start the interview with in my travel email, and waited for 15 minutes past the start time before the interviewer came out looking for me asking why I wasn't in the interview room. Wasn't a great way to start the day. The in person interview sessions weren't well explained to me and I didn't realize I would have to switch rooms and sometimes dial in to talk to a remote person. The actual interviews in office themselves went well I thought, but I really had no idea what to expect as I wasn't given much info beforehand about who I was talking with. About a week later I got an email form rejection saying my background and skills were not a good match and they were going to pass. I have never been more disappointed and angry with a company I had interviewed with in my 15 years in the industry. To get a form rejection after months of time and effort was unprofessional and impersonal at best. I replied to the email thanking the manager for their time and asking if I could get more feedback on why I wasn't a good fit and I never got a response. I am really disappointed in Stitch Fix. To take an interviewer through a whole two month long process and then send out a very generic rejection is low. In addition in the form email I was prompted to apply to other jobs through a partner site (that weren't for Stitch Fix jobs). Seriously? I won't be recommending Stitch Fix to any colleagues as a result of the interview process.
