I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Stitch Fix (Sacramento, CA) in Aug 2016
Interview
I was asked to bring a laptop and create a 5 item Pinterest board in advance of the interview to meet the needs of a hypothetical client. While sitting in the waiting room, I was given 10 minutes to write a short paragraph describing the benefits of the 5 items selected, as though writing to the client as their stylist. Pulled into separate interview room with two young women. Watched a short video describing the process of their company. Asked typical interview questions - greatest challenge, resume specifics, etc.
They also had three items of clothing available on a table that I was asked to examine and 'livestyle' in the presence of my interviewers. They asked me to describe what I would pair the item with and tell a brief story about who the imaginary woman was and what her lifestyle was like. The first two items were fine, but the final garment was simply awful. Many of the company's offerings seem designed for people who have given up trying to have sex, but this dramatically lowered the fashion bar. It looked like something a homeless person would use as toilet paper. I suppose I should have lied, but I told them that I would not send that item to a client and instead try to locate a more flattering piece that met the client's style goals.
I presume this was not the right answer, as I did not receive a job offer. Ah well. The interview had seemed to go pretty well, otherwise.
