I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Stanford University (Palo Alto, CA) in Apr 2013
Interview
I had a fast pleasant experience getting hired at Stanford with my current position. I had interviewed for two other positions at different departments and never heard back from either and l months later I received an automated reply that the positions had been filled. Stanford is VERY decentralized and there are many issues with their hiring process. People never follow up, don't email, and they can take MONTHS to call back so don't hold your breathe. My advice is don't give up, they have great benefits so the trouble is worth it if you appreciate a good work/life balance.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
They asked how do you deal with unresponsive faculty members?
I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Stanford University in Feb 2024
Interview
Applied online, didn't hear anything for about a month and a half. Had a 45 minute phone screening interview (every question was a "tell me a time..." prompt), a 6 person panel interview on zoom about a week after the initial screening (questions were similar to the screening questions), then an hour and a half 1 on 1 in person "interview" (was more of a get to know you, see if personalities mesh chat) a week after the panel. Received an offer 2 days after the in person interview. Background check and onboarding took almost 3 weeks. My first day was 3 months to the day since my initial application. Luckily I could afford to wait the LONG hiring/onboarding process out, but I don't know how they expect people who need jobs asap to wait 3 months. The offer was quite fair, in my opinion - closer to the top end of the range shown on the ad.

Question 1
Tell me a time when you worked with people who's opinions were different than your own and how did you handle that?
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Stanford University in Sept 2023
Interview
First there were 3 separate phone calls - one of them screening for about 30 minutes, the other two - some questions and getting to know the team. Then in-person interview with a panel of 3 people. After it a technical Zoom one-on-one interview and reference check.
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Stanford University in Jan 2022
Interview
I was asked to do all 3 interviews. 1 screening phone call followed by two virtual interviews. None of the questions were too difficult. I never heard back from any of the interviewers; even after reaching out to them.
