      Senior Firmware Engineer Interview

      11 Mar 2022
      Anonymous interview candidate
      New York, NY
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Sphero (New York, NY) in Mar 2022

      Interview

Applied online and received invite for phone screen about 2.5 weeks later. Here is the process I went through: 1. Initial invite to hr phone screen This call caught me off guard as I'm used to just going through my experience and why I'm looking. However, in this case Sphero really wants to make sure you fit their values for inclusion, collaboration, and team work. The recruiter talked briefly about sober and then asked me behavioral questions for about 15 minutes. Typical scenarios like "tell me about a time when you had to work with a team..." There were also a questions about my definition of inclusion and why I'm interested in Sphero. 2. Received positive feedback the next day and setup video interview with hiring manager. This occurred within a few days of the phone screen. The conversation was relaxed and 2 sided. There were a mix of behavioral questions and then experience related questions. For example, describe a time where you debugged and solved a really tough problem. Learned great info about day to day operations and hiring manager agreed I was good fit and to advance to next step. 3. Received positive feedback from hr about hiring manager interview same day and scheduled team video interview. The team video interview occurred the next week and was a 45-60 minute zoom call. There were 3 interviewers from the firmware team, a EE and 2 Firmware engineers. 4. At this point the next step is either an offer or a decline. The recruiter stated they would follow up 2 days after team interview and I received a message stating the need more time due to vacations.
