      Web Developer Interview

      16 Dec 2016
      Anonymous employee
      Austin, TX
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Spacetime Studios (Austin, TX) in Sept 2014

      Interview

At home Programming Test, building a simple full stack application with working book store, wishlist and cart. Up to interviewee whether or not they host it somewhere or if they simply provide instructions on how to use the application. Next step was a phone interview with several developers, who asked basic competency and work experience questions. Final step was an in person day long oral skill assessment with lead web developer, several game programmers and dev ops. Web dev questions were largely game dev oriented, but focused on OOP understanding and other fundamental programming proficiencies. SQL query writing was included after lunch, be prepared for your brain to be mush by that point. Whiteboard was available to use while answering / explaining all questions.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Most difficult question was an OOP application architecture question posed as a client request. As you solved each part to the satisfaction of the interviewers, the request would morph to put stress on your architecture requiring you to rethink the best solution.
