Technical recruiter was 7 minutes late to our 15 minute time slot. He assumed my location based on my area code, then guessed again based on the location of my last company. Seemed not to have read my submission that included my actual location. He told me that the role wasn’t hiring in WA, but in L.A. instead. I applied to the WA version of the role & had no interest in living in LA.
He asked about my current role, but didn’t seem interested in hearing about it. Asked about my proudest achievement in the role. I don’t think he comprehended the caliber of the work.
He then asked my salary requirements. Then stated I don’t meet the YoE requirements for the role based on my resume & offered a level down - noting that it wouldn’t meet my salary requirements.
I clarified that he was mistaken about my YoE & that my experience actually well exceeds the requirements but that it didn’t seem this would work out.
I was never given a chance to ask questions. I would have lost out on a lot of quality talent if this were my talent acquisition partner.
