I received a phone call inviting me for an interview approximately 10 days after the job's closing date. I was emailed the instructions for the interview. I was asked to prepare a 20 minute presentation on how to implement a new change to a current program. I am not sure how much time other interviewees had to work on their presentation. I was able to work on this for the whole weekend prior to my Tuesday interview. You bring the presentation on a USB stick and they have a room set up with a laptop and projector screen. I was informed of who was on the interview panel prior to the interview, so I took the time to read about what the 3 senior managers were responsible for. The presentation went very smoothly. If I had to do it over again, I would have made my speaking notes smaller (flipping through 8 1/2 X 11 pages was distracting). The formal interview followed the presentation in the same room. The 3 managers took turns asking me questions about my knowledge of the key stakeholders, organization structure, my skills, relevant experience, and education. I went through my list of questions for them, and the whole process lasted about an hour. They said if they were prepared to make me an offer that they would check my references. Apparently, they only do this if they want to offer you the job, which is a little frustrating if you feel that you have good references that can vouch for you so that you can move to the point of where they are seriously considering you for the position.
