      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Sonos

      Interview

The interviewer, a very inexperienced HR manager, was erratic. He missed the first scheduled interview, calling 10 minutes late to reschedule. When we did have the interview, he was very unsure of himself, fumbling and grasping for words.

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Sonos (Seattle, WA) in May 2019

      Interview

Recruiter reached out with available position after another interview didn’t pan out. Had a video call with the original hiring manager and then was invited to an on-site. During the on-site everyone was thoughtful about their questions, as well as their responses to my questions. Even though a few of the interviews were via VC, their set up is high quality and makes for a personal virtual interview setting. I was told during the interview that some roles had shifted and there would be a new hiring manager, so I appreciated the candor. After the interview I heard back within a couple of days. Unfortunately, it wasn’t a fit but the hiring manager was the one to inform me, which I felt was above and beyond my expectation given past interview experiences. The whole experience as a candidate was efficient, honest, and left me feeling like I would still love to work for Sonos.

      Question 1

Questions re: day to day responsibilities of current role and team dynamics, plus a bit of on the spot brainstorming to get a sense for strategic ability.

      Product Manager Interview

      9 Sept 2015
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Positive experience

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Sonos

      Interview

Sonos is a great company and they make great products. They have three core offices in the US: Santa Barbara, Cambridge, and Seattle. The problem is... what you interview for and how successful your interview is will determine where your potential manager is based. Overall my interview experience was OK but the hiring manager unfortunately was remote so my impact we decreased. End of day, I feel if I was in front of the hiring manager I would have been better off and most likely would have got to the next phase.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

It is a typical interview although the PM is very 'design thinking' driven, so brush up on your IDEO. Also they tend to ask the common questions, so be prepared to critique yourself.
